Sarah Baum (they/them) is a former reporting fellow for Snopes. They worked in the newsroom in July 2023. Before that, they did a fact-checking stint at The Nation; worked on a nationwide investigative reporting initiative, called The Since Parkland project, with The Trace; contributed to, and received training from, First Draft’s social media verification program, and freelanced for outlets such as The New York Times, Teen Vogue, the BBC, and The Associated Press. They are a starry-eyed, 20-something living in and around New York City, and their favorite quote is from poet Andrea Gibson: “Even when the truth isn’t hopeful, the telling of it is.”
