While many Twitter users were awed by the sight, some people were skeptical about the image's authenticity.

But there is no arguing with the above-displayed photographs. In addition to Ben Sturner's photographs of the rainbow over New York City, several other people shared images of the rainbow:

The Weather Channel reported that scattered showers in the morning provided the proper conditions for rainbows to form over New York City:

A beautiful sight lit up the New York City skyline on the eve of the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Thursday morning, New Yorkers were greeted to a shimmering double rainbow that stretched far across the city.

"Scattered pop showers this morning around New York City allowed for breaks of sun to filter through the raindrops. The result led to rainbows being observed around the city," meterologist Quincy Vagell said.
