On April 1, 2021, musician DJ Quik posted an alarming message on his Instagram stories saying that he was on his way to the hospital after being shot twice while driving in his car:

This is a genuine post from DJ Quik, but the musician was not actually hospitalized after being shot in his car. This, for lack of a better word, is a joke.

This joke was posted as a "story" on Instagram, which means that it will only be available for a limited time. We were able to view this story while it was live and took the above-displayed screenshot to confirm that this story was truly on DJ Quik's Instagram account.

DJ Quik followed this alarming message with another post saying that it was just an April Fools' Day prank.

He also posted a video bragging that he "got" his fans with his joke. DJ Quik said:

April Fools' day. Now y'all got to top that. I got y'all. That was a good one. I impressed myself with that. Happy April fools day. Love y'all.
