Last week, a graphic video went viral that showed a boy being beaten by at least one other student on a school bus. The students on the bus were enrolled at a school in a Hamilton County, Florida, school district. Reports suggested the boy was attacked because he wore a "Make America Great Again" hat, the campaign slogan for Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.
However, district Superintendent Rex L. Mitchell published a statement that refuted the claim, saying that the situation did not involve a Trump hat. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office also said that "misinformation has been passed along with the video."
Some of the reports and false tweets were still live several days later, and with no corrections. David Mikkelson reports.
