News of the COVID-19 coronavirus disease outbreak continues to dominate worldwide headlines. In the same way, viral copy-and-paste postings about coronavirus are dominating social media. Some contain truth, although many do not.

One of the claims readers asked us about was a list of purported good news about the virus: “How about some good news? China has closed down its last coronavirus hospital. Not enough new cases to support them.” The list continued with various bits of optimism, ranging from Apple reopening its computer stores in China, to a declining number of virus cases in South Korea, to a 103-year-old grandmother who has made a full recovery.
