Published Apr 28, 2022

As consumer prices continued to spiral in 2022, and with inflation rapidly becoming a major political issue, we thought now would be a good time to take a look back and see how what we pay for our basic goods has changed in recent years and decades.

Can you guess how much a dozen eggs cost back in 1922? When was sugar at its cheapest?

In our latest quiz, you’re going to see seven questions about how consumer prices have changed in the United States over the past century and beyond. All the figures are taken from official data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, a federal government agency.

Some of these questions might respond well to a bit of guesswork, others will test your logical brain, and if you’re of a certain vintage, a few might require you to dig deep into your memories.

Are you ready? Take the quiz!
