Supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump continue to call for naming the whistleblower whose complaint alleging that Trump withheld military aid for Ukraine to extort damaging information about a political rival sparked the current impeachment inquiry in Congress.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has said the whistleblower has a “statutory right” to anonymity.

Bethania Palma reports that although partisan media outlets and others have floated the name and likeness of a member of the intelligence community they claim is the whistleblower, that person’s identity remains officially confidential for a number of reasons, including for physical safety.
