A Kissing Lesson from 1942

Featured on Snopes today: Life magazine's "Guide to Kissing," rumblings about Obama ordering the CIA to train IS fighters, and video of an armed robot allegedly firing on humans.

There’s a right way and a wrong way to kiss, according to a photo layout allegedly published in Life magazine in 1942 and more recently fashioned into a meme.

“Wrong. Sprawling all over the chair is considered ungraceful. Bad technique,” reads the caption under one photograph. “Right. Girl should sit on arm of the chair and boy should hold her firmly but lightly,” says another.

Internet users wondered if the layout was authentic or a modern-day spoof of old-fashioned mores. Snopes.com’s Dan Evon plumbed the archives to find out.
