“People are dying that have never died before,” U.S. President Donald Trump supposedly said during a recent press briefing on the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

Critics of the president say the unintelligible quote is proof of his incompetence.

The trouble is, Snopes reporter Bethania Palma writes, no evidence exists that he ever said it, and the quote itself is more than a decade old.
