Partisan criticism of the Trump administration’s handling of the new coronavirus outbreak has elicited pushback from pro-Trump media outlets such as PJ Media, which posted a “fact check” comparing it to former U.S. President Barack Obama’s handling of the swine flu (H1N1) outbreak in 2009.

Startlingly, the article claims that Obama neglected to declare a public health emergency until six months after swine flu was declared a pandemic, when millions were already infected and thousands had died.

Snopes.com’s Dan Evon revisited the timeline of the H1N1 pandemic and found that quite the opposite was true.
