Madison Dapcevich

Raised on an island in southeast Alaska, Madison is a master of environmental science and a perpetually curious tidepool explorer. She spent a few years working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. before reporting throughout the Rocky Mountains – before that she was once a deckhand on an Alaskan commercial fishing vessel, but that’s a story for another day. Though she covers everything from space science to medical marvels, her reporting focus lies in marine and environmental issues, climate change, and the intersect of policy and natural resource conflicts. Madison’s work has been featured in a number of publications, including those published during her staff positions at EcoWatch and IFLScience. She holds a master's degree in environmental science and natural resource journalism from the University of Montana, a graduate certificate in natural resource conflict resolution, and recently served as a science communication fellow with the Ocean Exploration Trust where she spent a summer sailing through American Samoa aboard the Exploration Vessel Nautilus. Her experiences have brought her to the wide-open spaces of Montana’s Big Sky Country. When not plucking away on a computer keyboard, Madison can be found traversing through the backcountry on epic whitewater explorations with her border collie, Ruka.
