Naples, Italy has delivered a new world record by producing the world's longest pizza.

The pie is about 1,854 meters (or approximately 1.15 miles) long and took 100 chefs about 11 hours to make.  The event, 'L’Unione Fa La Pizza' (a send-up of the phrase "l'unione fa la forza," or "unity is strength") was created by Oramata, the company that created the Napoli Pizza Village event, along with the Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani and the city of Naples.

Guinness World Records confirmed that the pizza's length was unprecedented:

Along the seafront of Naples in Italy, 100 chefs collaborated to create a 1,853.88 metres (6082.2 feet / 1.15 miles) long Neapolitan, which Guinness World Records has just confirmed is officially the Longest pizza ever made.

The recipe for record-breaking success included 2,000 kg of flour, 1,600 kg of tomatoes, 2,000 kg of fiordilatte cheese and 200 litres of olive oil - all of which was sourced from local suppliers in the Campania region, ‘the home of pizza’.

The previous record-breaking pizza measured 5,234 feet (plus 4.8 inches) and was created in 2015 in Milan.
