Origins:   Jamie Foxx (born Eric Marlon Bishop), is a 44-year-old American actor who won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of musician Ray Charles in the film Ray, as well as a stand-up comedian, a singer/songwriter, and a radio talk show host. The actor openly supported Barack Obama during the latter's presidential run in 2008 and his successful re-election bid in 2012.

During the Soul Train Awards ceremonies broadcast on television by the BET network on 25 November 2012, Foxx shocked many by referring to President Obama as "our lord and savior" in the course of exhorting the viewing audience to "First of all, give an honor to our God and our lord and savior, Barack Obama":
