<<I'm still considering a tongue pierce, but with my chosen line of work, my odds of getting a job decrease significantly. I'm glad you're free to do this sort of stuff. It must be wonderful!>>
It is, it really is. Week before last I decided, "Hey, I want my septum pierced." Then Sunday before last I just went and had it done. I love being in a position to control all the choices I make about my body and appearance.
Re employment and tongue piercing: my boss didn't even notice my tongue stud for about five months, and only then when I pointed it out (obviously, she didn't care), even though mine is placed relatively close to the end of my tongue. If you really want it, I'd suggest you try it and see how visible it is. Done properly it won't affect your speech, either.
<<It looks fantastic though, and if you love how the top looks, wait till you get the top *and* bottom done! I adore mine!>>
Thank you! You're an inspiration to me on the navel front, really. Mine is done more shallowly due to anatomy, but John (Austin's "navel king") did a phenom job. There's no sign of migration at all, and the healing went without a snag (even though the week after I had it done I got really sick and didn't do anything to it for several days). My navel is long, thin, and shallow, and I think the piercing works well with that placement-wise. Keep in mind that in those photos I was laying down, so my stomach was stretched taut which affects how high the piercing looks.
Are there any photos of your lovely navel project?
<<Curious about your nipples though... it looks like the horizontals are under the verticals, and in that case, how deep did they have to go? I'm really curious about this... it looks really cool, but to me it seems like it would be really deep.>>
The horizontals are under the verticals, essentially through my aureolas. (This is generally how male nipple piercings are done, so it's not uncommon.) It's not particularly deep; the two piercings are fairly close to each other, depthwise. The nipple in this photo isn't mine, but it gives you an idea of the placement on mine:

<<It went through pretty easy, considering it's a 14 gauge and the earring i had in it was probably about a 16.>>
Without a taper? I bow to you, girl --- piercing studs are smaller than 16 gauge ... more like 18 or even 20. :-) That was a smart move you made, switching the jewelry; larger gauge piercings really do heal better than smaller ones.
<<I'm thinking about getting something else done with my cartilage soon. Anything you can recommend? I know you have an industrial, but because of the placement of my cartilage pierce, i can't do that. Maybe a helix or a conch... >>
Hmm ... I'm partial to conch piercings, myself. I plan to get an outer conch orbital someday. A helix is pretty easy to hide, if that's a concern for you. Snugs and anti-tragus piercings are also pretty attractive, but visible. You could get really wacky and get a transverse lobe ... :-)
I'm considering redoing the second holes in my lobes and stretching them a bit. Stretching makes me a little nervous, because it's so visible and I worry it won't shrink back if I need it to. However, a friend has relatively minor 6 gauge lobes which aren't noticable without jewelry in.
