I come across a cross section of the population in Akron in the course of my work. Akron, Ohio is a city of 250,000(approximately), and a metro area of 500,000(this does not include Cleveland).
I see 100-300 people a day in our coin and jewelry store, and they cover the gamut in age and socio-economic level. I would have to say that piercings occur mainly in the 17-25 year-olds. Tattoos can be in all ages.
I would guess tattoos and piercings combined to be present in no more than 25% of the population I get to see. Of course, I don't ask many ladies to show me those tattoos which are hidden from public view.( Maybe I should, in the interest of science?).
But we ain't Austin! Hell, we still got 25 years more 'til we reach the millennium. Laid back?? We might have been the model for that, if we had more ambition.
