...Oh, keen!!!

I have to get scans to happen yet so bear with me (and / or Rhapsody can bare with me...that would work, too) until I do.

I've never scanned so I can only imagine the magnification and light required and know that I don't have it. There are a couple of people who can do it so maybe this week.

That one coin with the horse that I'm so nuts to ID (the coin not the horse)...just beautiful. The detail of the horse is incredible. There's so much motion within the art on that coin. It's absolutely alive and in action. The 'fluidity' of coin art seems to be in all pieces, even the highly stylized ones move.

The value of the coin(s) isn't an issue...it's the art and the thrill of unveiling it. I take a trip back to BCE or thereabouts and ...wow, just wow. Imagining the 'personal' history of any piece boggles my mind...in the pouch of some kid off to war, or bouncing from a lady's purse at the agora, or part of the fee paid, under the stoa, to teachers, or a monetary reward along with laurels to an athlete...who knows? To simply touch them...2000 years drops away. (Well, once you get the 2000 years of graudoo to fall away with olive oil soaks, etc)

Please share with me what kinds of coins you enjoy, your unusual ones, do you collect for value, etc. I'm sooooooo hooked on coins. Besides snopes boards with the smart beautiful women and the smart handsome guys, it's one of the few things to really excite my interest in a long while.

I'm really excited that there is real help at hand, too! Send me URL's to any sites that you like, please? The more scans of coins on the site the better...not that I don't like text but the visual helps this neophyte more. Thanks for the offer(s) to help ID. I haven't found anything close for the (I think) obverse with the grapes clusters(?) which fill one side. The horse is a smaller legend which led me to believe that's the reverse.

draz* my kinda art...doesn't matter if it makes cents or not *zig
