scott weiland facebookOfficials have not released a cause of death, but some sources are reporting that the singer suffered a "possible cardiac arrest" inside his tour bus in Minnesota.

While Weiland was best known for his work with the band Stone Temple Pilots, he had also fronted the group Velvet Revolver and was on tour with his new band The Wildabouts at the time of his death:

Weiland had struggled publicly with addiction issues for years.  He had been arrested for drug possession, driving under the influence, and was in and out of rehab.  In his later years, he had differences with bandmates in Velvet Revolver and the re-formed Stone Temple Pilots because of what they called "erratic behavior," ultimately ending with them parting ways.
