That'll Do, Piggy

NEWS:   Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have ended their relationship, both Muppets confirmed at a press conference.

On 4 August 2015, beloved Muppets Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy "announced" the end of their relationship, one that had spanned nearly four decades.

A few weeks before the scheduled 22 September 2015 debut of The Muppets television program on ABC, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy appeared at a Television Critics Association (TCA) press conference in Beverly Hills. During the ABC Entertainment portion of the 2015 Summer TCA Tour, Kermit the Frog told attendees:

Piggy and I have gone our separate ways romantically. It’s just coming out in the press now. It can be tough to work with your ex. It can be touchy to be executive producer on your ex’s late-night show – particularly if your ex is a pig. I don’t know whether any of you have ever dated pigs.

After Kermit stated the pair were "professional adults," Piggy said:

One of us is certainly professional. You can guess who that is, I’m sure. I have no problem working with my ex, okay? It’s fine. It’s totally healed ... Dating moi is like flying close to the sun. It was inevitable that Kermit would drop down to the ground while I stayed in the heavens.

A status update published to Kermit the Frog's Facebook page announced the split (tagging Miss Piggy):

After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Miss Piggy made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship. We will continue to work together on television (“The Muppets”/Tuesdays 8pm this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter. Thank you for your understanding.

Simultaneously, Miss Piggy's official Facebook page shared the following status:
